BOND, JULIAN BOND

Isn't it amazing how two different people grossly offending others can be "hung" on the one hand and allowed to skate on the other.

I refer to the situations of Mel Gibson and Julian Bond. In one situation Mr. Gibson, in a drunken stupor accuses Jews of causing all of the wars in history. In the other situation Mr. Bond, in a lucid and professional moment speaking at a convention offends and insults Jews, Arabs, Koreans and most of the races on the planet. How these two cases were handled in the media and by the respective races is the epitome of hypocrisy.

Mel Gibson, respected actor, Oscar winning actor and director, and admitted alcoholic is stopped for a DUI in Hollywoodland. Like most egos he is insulted by the very idea that police would stop him. Everyone in Hollywood and the Kennedy clan have the same opinion. Now in a drunken stupor he screams at the police, for some strange reason, that Jews were responsible for all the wars in history or some such drivel. The police clearly understood that his drunken ranting was that of a pompous idiot. The police hear such crap all of the time. However, the media was quick to hop on the story since it was probably a slow day anyway, bad news sells and good news doesn't. Nationally the Saturday Sabbath Society promply proceeded to literally nail Mr. Gibson to the cross of ethnic retribution. Mr. Gibson is entitled to his opinion even if he is wrong. Has anyone ever looked into it historically to see if there is a basis for his opinion? Maybe he is correct. Now if a Hollywood producer, studion owner, or say Barbara Striensen had found herself in the same situation and spouted off about Christians, Muslims, Mormons, etc. The media would have smothered her with sorrow and promply blamed demon rum for the outrage and sued Jack Daniels or Smirnoff. She would not even considered apologizing. Mr. Gibson, when he sobered up and realized what he had done went before local Jewish leaders to beg forgiveness. It mattered not as members of the faith cast the first and last stone of the perpetual sinner. Even Barbara Walters came down from Saini to curse the heathen. It does seem that the Jewish race has one goal.....to protect itself regardless of the offense or who might have committed it.

With Mr. Bond we have quite a different story. Mr. Bond, before a convention of professionals quickly blamed Jews, Arabs, and Koreans for the self inflicted pain of the Black community. He called them thieves, corrupt, and aggressive preyed on his black breathen. This was not a statement of some crazed drunk but instead presented in a calm, forthright way. This is really what this man thinks. This is news, or so you would think, but oh no! The rantings of a drunk actor should always be considered more venal that the sober words of a former UN Ambassador, former Mayor, and still prominent leader of the Black community. Where Mr. Gibson is scorned and has suffered financially Mr. Bond resigned from a no-nothing position with Wal-Mart to return to his lucrative speaking tour. Aside from a few lines here and a few words there his punishment was non-existent. Hate speak seems appropriate for Black leaders. Even Wal-Mart and the Jewish community remarked how shocked they were that a man who had spoken so well about civil rights could say such things. Ah yes! The devil made him do it. Mr. Bond has spoken for every Black leader since Dr. King was murdered. Where Dr. King so eloquently spoke of a 'hand up', Black leaders since have consistently demanded a 'hand out'. They have become the acolytes of Armani, the crusaders of Cadillac, and the archangels of hate. Bill Cosby, a stand up comic, has more right to lead Black Americans than any Black leader in this country.

Hate still exist in this country but it is the supposed minorities who hate for hate sake. Hate in various communities is profitable. Extortion is the currency of the day. Those in the Jewish and Black communities need to look inward and solve their own problems with being on the giant blue marble with the rest of us. They both chant about the symbols of their faith. However, these symbols are made of gold and diamonds not the hewn wood on which our savior was crucified.
